Sandeep Balan lives in Mooresville and comes from "God's own country" - Kerala.

He was born in a music inclined family. Being influenced by mother Smt. C. SREEDEVI, initiated into Carnatic Music at the age of 10 and trained under various gurus.

He has won many competitions and awards growing up in Kerala including inter-collegiate competitions and Airtel Super Singer 2008 conducted by Vijay TV. He continues to follow his passion today as a singer and a music teacher and has performed at various stage programs in Charlotte area.

Sowmya Srinivasan was born and brought up in Chindwara, Madhya Pradesh and Nagpur. She has been living in Charlotte since 2003.

Sowmya has been learning music from the age of 8 and is still pursuing her quest to explore the ocean of music. She has learnt Carnatic, Hindustani and Western Classical. She likes to sing classical, semi-classical, and light music.

Since 2010, she has been rendering her voice for charitable causes through Moksha Group in Charlotte. She also had an opportunity to perform live with Shankar Mahadevan in 2014 at Raleigh.

Sowmya runs Moksha School of Music and teaches Carnatic music in Charlotte for the past 10 years.

Vijay Pilli, an ES Management consultant by profession, is a Charlotte resident from 1997. Having started several IT firms in US and India since 1999, he is also the founder/partner in several non-profit organizations; and specifically, The Moksha Group of Charlotte. Since its inception in 2010, this very talented group of musicians have been contributing to various charitable organizations in the area.

Vijay comes from a Christian musical family, and has been singing since childhood. A singer and mentor to many musical enthusiasts. He has conducted and performed with Moksha in several Bollywood shows. His mother being his inspiration, he aspires to serve the musical community, whole heartedly, and contribute to the greater cause with these affiliations. Mohd. Rafi, Shri. Ilayaraja, AR Rahman, SP Balasubramaniam, and Sonu Nigam are some of his favorites.

Kalpana Iyer is a long time Charlotte resident and works as a Physical Therapist at Carolinas Medical Center at Mercy. She holds a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Oklahoma and University of Mumbai.

She has had a great passion for music from an early age and started taking music lessons while in high school and participated in many music competitions and events in Mumbai. She won first place in the Yash Chopra All Bombay Interschool music competition while in high school and participated in various singing events while in college. Kalpana has continued her support for music in Charlotte through active engagement as a competitor, participant in community music events, and assisting with judging the Charlotte Indian Idol competition for the Festival of India. She welcomes the opportunity to be part of the Nuv Yug team.

Ujjwal Srivastava grew up in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh - home of Prayag Sangeet Samiti, the renowned institution of Hindustani Classical Music. He has lived in the Raleigh area since 1990.

He has had minimal training in music, but he is uniquely qualified to be a judge at Nuv Yug IDOL as a founder of Nuv Yug Cultural Organization and with his experience of watching and listening to musical talent since early childhood.

He was inspired to start Nuv Yug IDOL based on popularity of top Indian Idol performers at Nuv Yug India Festís headline shows. He hopes that Nuv Yug IDOL contest will encourage people to pursue their passion for Indian music and help instill a sense of pride in youth for their musical accomplishments.

He also created the online platform that is being used to conduct the Nuv Yug IDOL contest.
